We fielded an inexperienced side at Heythrop Park on 22nd May for our first League match of the season against Essex. We were missing a number of players who were at the Welsh Stroke Play and once again we suffered from another diary clash. Nevertheless, we had a good morning and some excellent golf in very difficult conditions took us into lunch 2-2 and we had high hopes for the afternoon singles. Despite a great win for Ashley Watkins at No1, we were struggling in every other game and were soon heading for defeat despite Mathew Johnson's win and Ashley Walton's half.
