Kevin Freeman of Stoke Park took the 2001 BB&O Order of Merit title by 12.5 points from Craig Buttivant of Gerrards Cross. Freeman amassed 43 points on his way to the title with excellent finishes in four of the nine tournament qualifying events.

BB & O finish runners up to Yorkshire in the English Golf Union County Finals played at Burnham and Berrow. The three counties opened up their account on the first day with a 5-4 win against South Western region winners Gloucestershire. A 3-0 win in the foursomes was enough to secure a win despite a 4-2 deficit in the singles.
