Under 16s v Under 14s v BB&O Girls
On Sunday 19th November the County held an inaugural three way match between the U14s, U16s and the BB&O Girls. On a sunny day at Gerrards Cross a well fought match was held in the best of sportsmanship. The U14s finished the year on a high note by winning the competition with 10 wins against the U16s 5 wins and the Girls with 2 wins. Congratulations to Harry Whittle, James Brockington, Alister Haynes and Sam Williams of the U14s who won both their matches. It is hoped that this will be the forerunner to an annual match at this time of the year.

Hillman Trophy Plate
Sonning and Temple battled it out in the Final of the Hillman Trophy Plate at Ellesborough GC on Saturday 21st October. It was Sonning's first appearance in a final but the 4th for Temple and their experience proved the major factor in their 4½-2½ win.

Half Year Council Meeting
The Half-Year Council Meeting took place at Badgemore Park GC on 18th October. Over 40 Secretaries and Club Representatives attended the meeting. After a buffet lunch the delegates played the 'last major' of the year in the traditional Greensome Foursomes format. Robin Jeffrey and Russel Matthews from Hinksey Heights just managed to beat the County Secretary and President into second place. A great disappointment for the President to finish his season without another Trophy. He should choose better partners.

Seniors v Hampshire League Final
Another day - another Final - this time at Mill Hill on Monday 16th October for the Seniors equivalent of the DT Salver. We never looked like winning until the President and Secretary (who were nervous wrecks) disappeared into the woods for a secret prayer meeting. This magic formula proved successful as the Hampshire players suddenly became extremely generous in their old age and we came back from the dead and incredibly won the match 6-4 much to the surprise of everyone watching. The movie rights are currently being negotiated.

BB&O v Dorset League Final
We played Dorset for the Daily Telegraph Salver at Ashford Manor on Sunday 15th October. Leading by just one point after the morning foursomes, what looked like a close encounter didn't quite turn out that way. We played some exceptional golf in the late afternoon and we took the match as, the ever reliable, Matt Briggs holed the winning putt to win his game out on the 15th. Congratulations to all the players who represented the County this year.

Hillman Trophy
An exciting weekend of finals started with East Berkshire winning the Hillman Trophy against Magnolia Park at Temple GC on Saturday 14th October. With the first 6 games being shared it was left to the last pair to battle it out for the Trophy. East Berks were 1 up coming up the last and in a tension filled atmosphere, Bob Horrocks bravely holed the tricky 2ft putt to seal victory.

Under 14's v Hampshire v Wiltshire
On a pleasant day around the delightful Wellington College golf course our U14 side performed very well against two of our old opponents. We beat Hants 6½- 3½ and overcame Wilts 7-1 (Wilts had two late cry offs) Hants beat Wilts 8-0 There was some excellent golf with Harry Whittle leading the way with a 4/3 and 5/4 win and late stand in Alfie Bull in his first County match winning 3/1
Message from the outgoing Junior Manager
Having received the honour of being appointed England 18 Squad Manager, it is with regret that I will have to resign my post as Junior Manager of the BB&O. I have had many wonderful years on the Executive and working with the Juniors has been a rewarding experience. During my reign we have seen both Adam Birdseye and Eddie Pepperell receive International honours with England. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all those who have given me support over those years and during my role as County Junior Manager. I would especially like to thank the players and their parents, who have travelled many miles to various matches and coaching sessions within the county. I would also like to thank Peter York and the Executive for their support of the junior golf programme during my time. Finally Jan Hubrecht who is replacing me, has been my assistant over the past two years. I know that he will do a brilliant job and he has my best wishes for the future. I hope that some of you will progress, and that I will have the opportunity of working with you at England level. Good luck to you all! Brian Roake

Daily Telegraph Leagues
Just as we thought lightening doesn't strike twice, the Seniors produced a mighty effort to join the 1st Team in the Daily Telegraph Final. We will now play Hampshire, a repeat of the 2004 Final at Stoneham, on 16th October at Mill Hill. The 1st Team will play Dorset the day before at Ashford Manor. SPECTATORS MORE THAN WELCOME. Click on the link below for the latest League positions.
Seniors v Essex
A nail biting finish to the season saw the Seniors comprehensively beat Essex at Denham on 11th September. Needing to win by a big margin to ensure the League title, meant that nerves were taught as the last four games entered the closing holes. Three of those went to the 18th but we got the 2½ points necessary to beat Essex into second place by just one point. We look forward to playing Hampshire in the Final

Colts v Essex
With a number of players back at College in the USA and not having played a competitive game since the 1st July, it did not augur well for our final match against Essex at Magnolia Park on 9th September. Behind after the morning foursomes we were not able to make any headway in the afternoon and eventually went down 4-8 to an Essex Colts Team who have not been beaten in the past 3 years.
[Result]

Seniors v Befordshire
Having set a target of winning our last 2 matches the Seniors achieved the 1st leg with a closely fought win at Aspley Guise against Bedfordshire on 7th September. With just 3 points after the first 6 games, it did not look good until a strong performance from the 'tail' saw us just win through 6-4. We need a big win against Essex to have any chance of reaching the Final.

Boddington Trophy
Kevin Freeman (Stoke Park) added the Boddington Trophy to his tally of triumphs as he posted a level par 140 at the new Royal Ascot layout on 4th September. Local member Malcolm Reid was in hot pursuit (excuse the in joke) but could not quite catch Kevin as he won by two shots.

Under 16's v Surrey
The Under 16s' had a great win against Surrey on 31st August at Huntercombe. Kindly sponsored by 'The Mugs' this annual event has seen some famous names taking part - Luke Donald and Paul Casey for example - in the 13 years it has run. On hand to present the boys with a memento of the day was 'Top Mug' Rodger Davis a former European Tour star and currently enjoying his 'retirement' on the Seniors Tour.

Junior Champion Club
In an exciting final at North Oxford on 25th August, Gerrards Cross just won through to become Junior Champion Club. Just 4 shots separated the 6 Clubs taking part in one of the closest events for many years. Southern Counties Seniors Foursomes
The Seniors had a disappointing day at the lovely West Sussex club on 16th August. Drawn against Surrey in the morning semi final they took revenge after last year's whitewash and beat us 3½-1½. We only halved one and lost 2 of the games that went to the 18th in a very close match. We won comfortably against Hampshire in the afternoon play-off for 3rd & 4th spots.

Under 14's v Middlesex
In this re-arranged fixture we just lost out to Middlesex at Hazlemere on 16th August. There were a number of good displays from some of the youngsters who were having their first taste of County golf as they stood in for some our boys who were playing in the EGU Under 14's Championship.

BB&O v Essex
We missed the chance to tie up the League as we went down 5-7 to Essex at Thorndon Park on 6th August. Trailing by just 1 point at lunchtime we looked secure as we went through 9 holes ahead in 6 games and down in just 2. However, Essex turned the tables on the back nine to leave us relying on other favourable results if we are to retain our League title.

David secures yet another cap in the six-man squad for the inaugural European Mens’ Seniors Team Championships being played at Ruuhikoski Golf Club in Finland on 16th - 19th August. Open Championship
Congratulations to the 8 - yes 8 - players who qualified at the Regional Venues on 5th July. Carl Corbin (Wokefield Park), Nick Hills (Donnington Grove), Adam Wootton (Oxford City), Kevin Freeman (Stoke Park), Tom Lawson (Ellesborough), Nick Wells (The Lambourne), Gregg Blainey (East Berkshire) and Will Roebuck (Mentmore) all went through to the Local Qualifying starting on Monday 10th July. We wish them well but there are only three spaces available from each of the four venues and with 98 in each field, a 3% chance seems a bit harsh. Congratulations to our 6 BB&O Pros who also made it through: Guy Woodman, David Fisher, Nick Mitchell, Rob Watts, Lee Gauthier and Daniel Woods. 14 BB&O men in Local Qualifying has to be a record!

Colts v Hertfordshire
The Colts took on Hertfordshire, in a must win match, at Henley on 1st July. We trailed after the morning foursomes by 1 point but a magnificent performance in the afternoon singles saw us take 6 games and finally the match 7½-4½.
