This age group includes talented Under 12 boys at the beginning of their County golf experience up to Under 14 boys with handicaps in single figures. BB&O invests a lot of time ensuring that as many prospects as possible are assessed by County Coaches and, when ready, join our Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 coaching squads.
County coaching begins in December and continues to the beginning of the playing season when each age group then has the chance to play for BB&O in a series of friendly matches and, for the Under 14s, League matches against Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Middlesex.
At this age group, the emphasis is on the golfing fundamentals – grip, set-up and so on, as well as attitude and temperament. These all need to be learned and adopted at the earliest possible age. As the boys move towards the Under 14 age group, we begin to introduce the importance of nutrition and other factors that influence performance on the day.
The majority of boys in our Under 14 squad progress on up to both the Under 16 and Junior Elite squads.
To be part of the Under 12 coaching squad, boys do not necessarily have a handicap but need to demonstrate an ability to play golf with the potential to develop their game quickly. For Under 13 and Under 14 squad boys, we normally expect a handicap of 18 and 12 respectively.

This was the final event of the season before a coaching day on 8 October and the Wellington College final on 26 October. Just 22 boys competed on this lovely par 3 course and our thanks go to Drayton Park for hosting this event. The lower number clearly demonstrates the success of the development tour in that a number of boys have moved on to the futures tour having achieved a handicap of 24 or better. We wish these boys every success and will continue to watch their progress.
The main prizes were won by:
Congratulations also to Harley Dixon on winning the MONSTER put by holing in one.

From an original entry of 30 boys, 24 enjoyed the excellent course presented by Billingbear Park Golf Club. It was good to see the boys enjoying the course and also good to see the enthusiasm with which they all attempted the challenge of the long carry across the water.
We have now become used to the boys playing excellent golf at these events and the results of today competition proved to be no exception with the main prizes being awarded to:
Gross: 1st Daniel Schofield, 2nd Jack Walters and 3rd Kai Radmore.
Nett: 1st. Alexander Levine -Estridge, 2nd Kabir Hunjan, 3rd Jack Walters.

Our second event of the year was played by 27 boys on the excellent green course at Wexham Park Golf Club. It was disappointing that three boys failed to show for the event without letting the organisers know resulting in three disappointed boys who could have played if we had been notified.
Conditions were excellent for the competition and some excellent scores were recorded. Main prize winners were:
1st Cayden Bray 81 Jonny Ford 61
2nd Matthew Heys 85 Daniel Schofield 62

A number of boys have left the Development Group this year to further their golf on the Futures tour. Good luck to them and welcome to all the new boys who have joined us.
Thank you to Wycombe Heights for hosting the first event of the season on their short course which was in superb condition.
Congratulations to all boys. Scoring was excellent, with Joe Getley, Matthew Heys and Alfie Westbrook all scoring gross 67 and leading the competition until the very last game brought in Jack Walters the eventual winner with a fine 66.

Of the 24 boys invited to take part in this final event of the season, just 19 took part as for various reasons, 5 were unfortunately not available to play.
For the second year, the event was played at the really excellent Wellington College Golf Course. I know that all the players enjoyed playing this truly wonderful course and our thanks go to the college for allowing us the use of their facilities. We hope that we will be allowed to return next year.
The weather also played its part. There was a heavy mist over the course first thing in the morning but by the start of the round the sun was shining brightly and the players all took advantage of the conditions to record some remarkable scores. Prizes were awarded to:
Gross Prizes: 1st and champion for 2016. Ferdie Armitage; 2nd Jamie Everett; 3rd Joe Getley (on the countback from Mackenzie Bielby.
Nett. Prizes: 1st. Alfie Westbrook; 2nd Mackenzie Bielby; 3rd Luca Crooks.
Skills test: Matthew Heys won the prize with a bunker shot that ended just 7 inches from the hole.

We now look forward to another exciting year that will start in March 2017. The events are now being organised and will be advertised very soon.
Finally, a big thank you to all the BB&O helpers led by Mike Partridge without whom these events could not take place.

This competition was played on the par 3 course at Drayton Park. The course was very well presented with excellent small greens that putted well. This together with superb golfing weather made for a wonderful days golf by these very talented young boys. Thanks must go to Drayton Park for allowing us to use the course and to the players parents and wives of the BB&O executive who helped guide the boys round the course.
It was also good to note the excellent spirit in which these boys continue to play their golf and the friendships that they are all developing.

Having experienced very poor weather at our first two events this year it was a great relief for everyone that we were able to enjoy perfect golfing weather and the boys certainly made the most of the conditions.
Some truly excellent golf was played on this very well presented par 3 course. Both Alfie Westbrook and Joe Getley scored 65's, Alfie taking the top prize on countback. James Dunbar-Newman scored 68 to take 3rd place.
Nett prize winners were: Billy Wood 44, Will Asby-Skyrme 41 and Mackenzie Bielby 50.
This was the second event of our Under 12 season at Wexham Park and it is disappointing to report that like the first, we were blighted by the weather.
24 players entered the competition but due to the weather, only 19 signed in. Rain was falling very heavily from mid morning and it was decided to reduce the event to 9 holes which disappointed most of the players as they were of course keen to play all 18 holes irrespective of the weather!
It was however decided to cancel the popular skills tests.
1st Gross Billy Wood
2nd Gross McKenzie Beilby
3rd Gross Jack Mailey
1st Net Luca Crooks
2nd Net Eathan Paul
3rd Net Daniel Schofield
Unfortunately, with only 24hrs notice the original venue was declared unplayable and our thanks go to Wexham Park for fielding the event at very short notice.
We were fortunate to enjoy some excellent weather on the day and 23 boys played a course that was in excellent condition. After 18 holes of excellent competition the prize winners were:
1st. Scratch Joe Getley. 77
2nd. Scratch Ben Campion. 78
1st. Net. Jack Chantry 56
2nd. Net. Mackenzie Bielby 58
