Welcome to the Junior section

As one of the largest County Golf Unions in England and with some of the most spectacular courses at our disposal, BB&O should be able to produce some of the best players in the Country. So it should be no surprise that the 2011 World Number 1, Luke Donald started life as a BB&O Junior and went on to play many matches for this County before embarking on his professional career. More recently Eddie Pepperell and Tyrrell Hatton have gone on to reach the heights of the European Tour with Tyrrell playing in the 2017 Masters at Augusta. Furthermore, several players just out of the Junior ranks, have qualified for The Open whilst still Amateurs and many others have gone on to fulfil their dreams at College in America or working Professionals at top Clubs.

BB&O has one of the strongest Junior programmes of any County. The team behind the junior organisation is dedicated to helping boys develop their game in a safe and friendly environment using some of the top coaches around. We run several age group Squads which start under 12 years old with a full Summer calendar of competitions to help develop the boys’ course management skills and gain experience against other good youngsters.

From there we select the most promising boys to become part of the Squads and some of them are then picked for inter-county and other matches. The Squads meet regularly for coaching sessions that cover a wide variety of activities from course management, to nutrition to strength and conditioning. We also have a resident mental performance coach who helps the boys with all the psychological aspects of their game.

For those playing in the teams, the County will provide clothing, balls and pay out-of-pocket expenses whilst on County duty.

So check out the other pages on this site and in particular the information that we use to select Squad players to see if you are eligible. Then if you feel that you are a player who can follow in Luke Donald’s footsteps, we’d like to hear from you.
