Essex hosted the match at Boyce Hill GC. A James Braid designed hilly course with difficult greens which needed to be played several times to truly understand the nature of the course. Unfortunately the BBO side had a disrupted practice round due to lightening which meant that only part of the course had been seen by the team and not at all by some others. Nevertheless the team put up a good showing and a hotly contested foursomes session saw the scores even at the break at 2-2. Both sides mixed up their line up in the afternoon and most matches remained very close up to the last few holes - the match ebbed and flowed but was really looking like a draw with a mid order game going up the last all square there was all to play for. Both teams and supporters were gathered round the last in an exciting finish but with both players missing their putts a halved game and match was the final outcome.
