For the second South East League Match of the year the BB&O First Team comprising of 8 Players hosted essex at Frilford Heath Golf Club. The team comprised of David Langley (Castle Royle), Olly Huggins (Frilford), Rory Browne (Feldon Valley), John Gough (Stoke Park), Aaron Ashberry (Burford), Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead), Kevin Freeman (Stoke Park) & Tom Lawson (Stoke Park)

In the morning Foursomes, the pairing of Langley & Huggins led the way and in a close match beat their opponents 2&1. In the second match Browne & Gough got up early and won 4&3. Ashberry & Birdseye matched that result with a win. In the final match, Freeman & Lawson were down early but won 3 of the next 4 holes before winning the 16th to go dormie 2 up. However, the Essex pair birdied the 17th and a fantastic up and down at the last saw the BB&O pair win 1 up.

So, a fantastic morning session saw the County lead 4 – 0 at lunch time.

In the afternoon singles the weather provided a mixture of cloud, sunshine and rain. The County were down in 4 of the top 6 games and all square in the other 2 but were leading in the final matches after 7 holes. Eventually after losing the top match, the next 3 matches all turned in the County’s favour, with Adam Birdseye holing a 40ft putt on 18 to win his match 1 up. Match 5 & 6 were lost, but 7 & 8 were both won. The Winners were Huggins, Langley, Birdseye, Lawson & Freeman, with Gough, Browne & Ashberry unfortunately losing their matches.
